BARBARA ACKERMANN COUNSELOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

Barbara Ackerman is a revered, professional school counselor and active member of the East End Counselors Association. She has volunteered countless hours of her time and shared her expertise with all of our members at one time or another.

In recognition of this outstanding counselor, the Executive Board of the EECA established the Barbara Ackerman Counselor of the Year Award.

Each year the membership is contacted and asked to nominate a counselor who best exemplifies the qualities and professionalism of Barbara Ackerman.  The nominees would be demonstrating the following:

  • Outstanding service to the profession and the children of Eastern Suffolk County

  • Service as a counselor for 4 or more years

  • Contribution(s) to the field of counseling and human development

  • Participation in professional activities in school, district, agency, community, EECA or a statewide professional organization

  • Membership in EECA

Please submit nominations along with short description of your nominee in 500 words or less, highlighting why they meet the above criteria.

Awards will be presented at the June General Membership Meeting.

We ask that nominees and nominators be present at the meeting on June 7, 2017.
