East End Counselors Association is pleased to recognize Brandi Hopkins, of Greenport School for receiving the “Barbara Ackermann Counselor of the Year Award” and Jillian Ruroede, also of Greenport School for receiving the “Rising Star Award” for the 2013/14 school year.
Brandi was nominated by her school for her professionalism, compassion and dedication to her students at Greenport School. Two of the many programs Brandi Hopkins has started are, the Employability Skills Program where students are taught how to create resumes, search for jobs and how to interview for jobs by local business people in the Greenport community and the “Alumni Days” program where Greenport Alumni come back to Greenport School and share tips and offer advice to high school seniors.
Jillian was nominated by her school for her dedication to students in grades k-12 in her role as the School Social Worker. Two of the many programs Jillian has started at Greenport School are, the Angel Tree where she reaches out to the community to donate gifts and other needed items so children can experience the joy of Christmas morning, and has also coordinated bringing the Olweus Anti-Bullying program to Greenport School.
